Blog - September 6, 2006 - Vote Against the Incumbent

Joe Lieberman lost the Democratic primary then he decided to run for the same senate seat as an independent. The rationalization is that he is needed in the senate because he’s so experienced. The truth is that he is in lust with the power and will do anything he can to keep it. What has Joe Lieberman done to deserve another term? I can’t point to anything significant. He should be replaced with someone who might do some good. If you’re going to get involved in politics you should already have established yourself in some other career so that when you leave politics you are able to return to your prior work. Few people in politics follow this advice. Many politicians that lose their seat in Congress simply continue their influence peddling as lobbyists because they have nothing else to fall back on. Politics is the only field in which the more experience you have, the more corrupt you get because the more horse trading you have done, the more campaign contributions you have accepted and the more favors you owe. The main goal of most politicians is to be reelected. When I go to vote if I don’t know anything about the people running, I try to vote for women and Hispanic candidates; women because they are more good natured and they tend to be pacifists, and Hispanics because they are minorities that usually stick up for the little guy. If there are no women or Hispanics running, then I vote against the incumbent (unless the incumbent has an extraordinary record in office). As voters we should be removing these parasites from our government every chance we get.
